Mandolin Acoustic
Need help deciding between mandolin or ukulele. Help plz?
Hey im thinking of getting a mandolin or tenor ukulele . I’ve played acoustic guitar for a little over a year now. I would like a more portable instrument to bring around with me when i can’t bring my guitar.
Anyways, i know how each instrument differs but I was wondering how versatile each instrument is in playing different genres and which one would be easier to pick up. What makes each difficult to play? how are their playing style’s different. Which would be easier to sing along with? Pro’s and cons of each if you could plz and ty.
Personal preferences accepted too.
The mandolin can be hard to play if it is your first instrument, mostly because it is so similar to the violin. But with musical backgroundd in stringed instruments it is much easier. I have played the guitar for 5 years and picked up the mandolin easily. If you are fairly good with picking the guitar, this will make it easier as well. Mandolin genres differ for the player, I play jazz, bluegrass and clasical on the mandolin, while I’ve heard others play a boatload of others. I don’t know too much about the ukulele so no advice there.
