The origins of the travel trailer date back to the romani people (or gypsies) of Eastern Europe, who would traipse around the countryside, transporting their cargo of all types within the confines of the walled-in caravan. While it hooks up to the automobile or other vehicle, it can then be unhitched at campsites or other RV locations either in towns or the countryside. There it can be utilized as sleeping and living quarters, with the addition of some furniture or other sleeping materials. This is extremely convenient for long haul road trips, and saves you the cost of accommodations along the route, making it one of the most popular uses.

Of course, it's possible to combine both uses into one, combining the garage aspect of a travel trailer with all the amenities and comfort of a full camper van. One section could be portioned off for storage, with the appropriate boxes or cabinet space, and the rest can serve as sleeping quarters or cushions for seating and entertainment. These can even be outfitted with kitchen areas, to save even more money while on the road.  The first step in determining what type of usage could be right for you is to think about what your anticipated needs will be, and then to take a look around at the different sizes and customizable features of trailers available to you.
